Every organizations in the world ultimate goal is continuous improvement while growing stability. Therefore organization need to be changed with the time and without change, there would no progress can be made. This rule also applies to employees. It will be impossible to advance in a profession if employees do not want to change their lives. Career development is just the practice of improving your skills without necessarily receiving a promotion. Your ability to turn into a point of self-improvement is more important than your skill set when it comes to career advancement. Making improvements to your skill set is what career development is all about.

When someone is concerned about their professional growth, they identify their own strengths and weaknesses, and then work hard to better their abilities. It also entailed learning about other professions and industries in order to find one that matched their skills, looking for possibilities to grow, and possibly changing occupations altogether if they found one that was fit (the balance careers, 2020) 

 

Importance of Career Development

 Career growth can begin as early as adolescence, while a person is still learning about alternative methods to make a living. It is a natural component of human development, and it can take a lifetime to complete.

·       Employees are more engaged when they perceive their employer cares about their development and provides opportunities to achieve personal professional objectives while also accomplishing the company's mission. Employees that follow a professional development path can improve their skills and knowledge over time, which can lead to mastery of their existing jobs, promotions, and transfers to new or other positions. Career paths may have a direct impact on the entire organization by enhancing morale, job satisfaction, motivation, productivity, and responsiveness in reaching departmental and organizational goals (SHRM, 2021)

·       Career development aids in the adaption to changing work environments and job types.

·       Career development aids in the management of manpower requirements.

·       Career development is very important for every individuals to benchmarking status. or to change his future path. For an instance, most government organizations not allowed for the career growth/promotions unlike private sector, consequently they left institution or may leave country for better options.

Keys to Career Development

·       Vision, it entails being able to see and articulate your job objectives.

·       Social Capital, It refers to the resources available to you through your professional contacts in the context of career growth.

·       Experience gained while working in a certain sector or function

·       Knowledge, it refers to your theoretical and practical grasp of a subject that you have gained via formal and informal education and experience.

·    Resources, The people, tools, and programs you enlist to help you advance your remote career are known as resources.

·   Opportunities are the professional and personal benefits that come as a result of your passions (workplaceless, 2021)
